Strings

String section classes in the 2010 Festival will be held on Thursday 11th November, from 4.15pm in the Ballroom and Sunday 14th November all day in the Performing Arts Centre

Helen Browne studied with Leonard Hirsch and Antonio Brosa at the Royal College of Music. Whilst still a student she was awarded the prestigious Gulbenkian Foundation Scholarship for study in Lisbon. On graduation she was immediately engaged by the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. Subsequently she was appointed principal second violin of the Royal Ballet Orchestra and shortly afterwards became a member of the Royal Opera House Orchestra, Covent Garden. For 15 years she was Director of Strings at Roedean School where she coached and trained the three orchestras and many chamber ensembles which won national competitions. She has a very busy schedule teaching and playing freelance with London orchestras and is in demand as an adjudicator of competitions and festivals

Classes for Violin,  Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Classical Guitar and Harp etc. will be held separately if there are sufficient entries. The time limit includes tuning up.

To qualify for the £100 cash prize YOUNG MUSICIAN AWARD WINNERS must perform in the Festival concert on Sunday December 12th 2010
