Farnham Competitive Music Festival is affiliated to the British and International Federation of Festivals (BIFF) of which Her Majesty the Queen is Patron. In 2012 BIFF presented HM the Queen with a book of photos from affiliated festivals as a gift to honour her Diamond Jubilee year. This is our contribution, with images taken by Dara Dorsman, a sixth form student at Frensham Heights in November 2011
BBC Young Musician 2012
Congratulations to Laura van der Heijden, BBC Young Musician 2012. Laura participated in four classes at our 2011 Festival, performing several of the pieces which she was preparing for the BBC competition.
We were delighted to receive this message from her family in December 2011:
"I want to thank the Farnham team for organising this true gem of a
competitive music festival. Everything about it was just exquisite; the
pre-festival support, the location, the hall where it was held, the quality
of the adjudicator and her very helpful and thorough comments, the care when we were there, the friendliness, the flexibility and kindness you treated us with. We wish you lots of success, you deserve it!!!"
